A Journey Towards Jaimini Sutram - Part 1

Namaste,

Sri Gurbhyo Namah

After more than 4 years of silence, today I am writing a blog today.

Yesterday, I delivered my first lecture on Jaimini Astrology at ICAS Secunderabad Chapter.

I will put some of the slides of power point presentation I had shown on this blog.
I promise to you that I will never transgress Jaimini Sutras and whatever I put on this slide would backed by references from commentaries.

Go through them and give your feedback.

Shanmukha Sir,
There are four types of navamansa chart.
1-parasara navamansa,
2-kalachakra navamansa,
3-krishna mishra navamansa of Rangacharya/Nadi navamansa of Pt Rath,
4-Uniform krishnamishra navamansa(all sign uniformly represented)But Which navamansa chart should be only applicable to JEIMINI UPADESA SUTRAS???

Tough Question. I try to answer below as per my understanding as a student of this wonderful branch of astrology.

1. Parasara Navamsa shall be used for all predictive purposes especially as an individual D-Chart

2. Kalachakra Navamsa shall be used only for Kala Chakra Dasa Reckoning.

3. Krishna Mishra Navamsa of Rangacharya / Nadi Navamsa of Sanjay Rath shal only be used for results of Karakamsa Chart as a sperate divisional chart.

4. Uniform KM Navamsa doesn't hold any classical support or application. It is an improvisation by Sri Narasimha to construct chart without mathematical error that is in-built in the 3rd variety of the chart above.

In summary, I would say KM Navamsa of Rangacharya is more appropriate, however all signs do not have equal representation in Navamsa reckoning.

I have been always contemplating whether D-Charts have any role in Jaimini Astrology?

Shanmukha Sir,

According to Jemini Rishi manuscripts ,Which is the correct actual option for process of calculation upapada???
OPTION-1 Arudha of 12th house is called UPAPADA.
OPTION-2 Male Horoscopes: Find out the stronger of the of the
Ascendant and its 7th house. If the stronger is an odd sign, find
out the arudha of its 12th house. If the stronger is an even sign
find out the arudha of the 12th house of its sanunukha sign.

Female Chart: Find out the stronger of the Asc.and its 7th
house.lfthe stronger of the two is an even sign find the arudha of
the 2nd sign. If the stronger of the two is an odd sign find out the
arudha of the 2nd of its sanunukha sign.

Dear Sri Sitikantha,

According to Jaimini Manuscripts I came across in South India, both the options you mentioned are not correct.

1. Option 1 is the popular view as endorsed by BPHS and most of the North Indian Scholars like Neelakantha, Bala Krishnanda Saraswati Swamin etc.

2. Option 2 is the view by our Guru Sri Iranganti Rangacharya, which, I believe, was based on the clues from Jyotisha Phalaratnamala of Krishna Mishra.

However, the correct version of the Upapada calculation is not authentically known till the time Maharshi Jaimini himself reveals to the world. The things are mutilated to that extent.

Hence, my suggestion on the topic is blindly follow your Guru.

Hope this helps.

Shanmukha

Sir
Aspect or placement of jupiter, moon on 12th to the Arudha lagna indicate loss.If both Jupiter and moon are placed on 12th Arudha lagna, then will it cause loss or gain(according to gajakesari yoga)??????????????

Shanmukha said...

Dear Sitikantha,

Benefic planets in 12th from Arudha Lagna indicate expenditure on account of good deeds. It is better to have no planets in 12th to AL. It is very bad to have natural malefic planets in 12th from AL. Moon with Jupiter will definitely benefit the significations of Moon as far as GajaKesari Yoga is concerned. However, in Jaimini System, Houses from AL indicate matters relating to money and rajayoga, not all spheres of life.

Sage Jaimini clearly explained Rajayogas and Dhana Yogas in Arudha Chapter stressing the importance of AL. Special Lagnas do have their own application, they are not substitute to any other Lagnas.

Hope I answered your query.

Regards,
Shanmukha

Dear Shanmukha,

Nice article, too bad there is no link to a lecture. I would like to make one point regarding Garga Muni. According to Visnu Purana Garga Muni learned the secrets of astrology from Anantashesha, not Skandha.
